Physical Therapy
So, I'm a senior in high school, and played football this year. We did horrible..
We were 4 - 6.
I'm a linebacker, and I tackled the running back, but fell awkwardly on my neck/shoulder, and gave my a stinger, but was really different and somehow
my muscles just disappeared, but what basically happened is that my nerves got severed, not completely but very harshly. So I don't have the ability
to contract my muscles on my infraspinatus. I have to work very hard to regain the feeling of my nerves in that area.
Fun Fact : I've lost to a 7th grade girl in an arm wrestle match. Multiple times.
So basically, I need some workout ideas that will focus on that muscle. Anyone want to help out?

you need to work out your deltoids? i suggest light weight in your hand and start from your hands relaxed by your side. Then lift up slowly so
you're in a T kinda position. slowly let down. I have no idea what this excersize is called but it does work out your deltoids.
Another thing you can do: use resistant bands. Step on one and grasp the handle in your hand and go all the way up or to your side. That'll work
out the shoulder too.
forgot how to attach vids but this should help:

lulz infraspinatus, is by far one of the GAYest muscles to work on
this is probably THE most direct workout it can do
http://www.ncpad.org/exercise/fact_sheet.php?sheet=426§ion=2336
(if it's that bad do the BANDS as they recommend)
similar exercises are the lumbar chops/wood chopping/whatever you want to call it,
but they don't directly work on it, more of a tertiary type of deal on a multi-joint exercise
but yah that gay 1 in the link, #1

first of all, any kind of neurapraxia (nerve damage) is pretty serious business and you should not be asking for advice on an internet forum. that
being said, the worse you can do is delay your recovery, as long as you don't do something stupid.
you're kinda giving shitty information though. how much damage was done? was there wallerian degeneration? which nerve(s) were affected? are any
other muscles affected other than the infra? what areas have sensory loss? is the motor loss of the infraspinatus 100% or partial?
from the info you gave, my guess is a 2nd degree neurapraxia (axonotmesis) of the suprascapular nerve? what does that mean, you ask? it means go see
a frickin' physiotherapist. its your body, don't sell it short.

those are called "standing flies" and no you don't want to do that with an atrophic infraspinatus. you're better off with PNF exercises. weights
are a bit aggressive.

really? former physical therapy student? i call bullshit.
why the hell would you disparage an exercise that strengthens the rotator cuff when you should know that ppl already neglect those muscles? you
should tell how gay those exercises are to the professional baseball pitchers and football quarterbacks whose livelihood depends on those muscles.

Yeah, I'm using bands... Haha..
It's ridiculous.. When I first got injured, I just took a break, didn't do anything for a while. But it was ridiculous... I couldn't even turn the
steering wheel of my car... I couldn't do any simple tasks. It's been 5 months, and it's better, but it's still bad... Fortunately, I'm on the
way to recovery.
