Hair styling products

Hey guys,

I'm just wondering what's a good place to get hair styling product. I know that buying from hair salon is pretty pricey and shoppers drugmart doesn't seem to have the stuff I wanted.

Just looking for a good bottle of styling hair wax. Any recommendations?

I use Gatsby products, wax or clay. Prefer clay since it doesn't give sticky feeling and texture to the hair. they're not expensive you can buy on ebay for about 10 dollars each. they have many different strength for different length of hair and style you prefer.

I also use Gatsby (the Purple one). Did a quick youtube search and found this

Whereabouts are you from? You can usually find them in stores Pacific Mall or First Markham place... even TnT Grocery stores.

I'm surprised someone asked this. I thought all asian guys knows about gatsby by now. The pink one is pretty good. I've tried most of them and I find that the pink one lets you style it easier. For best results use it in combination with hairspray. It holds for the whole day without giving in at all.

gatsby green is good for medium short hair too, and gray for mat look. Find it at pacific mall, or chinese supermarket.

sometimes you can find cheap hair products at Winners.

Thumbs up for gatsby, I like to mix both the pink and grey together but for work i use purple but you might still need hairspray after depending on what you want to do

It all depends on what you want to do with your hair, how long it is, your hair's own natural soft/hardness, how "wet" you want it to look, how thick/thin your hair is.

My hair is medium short length and I like to have a natural look to it. Get yourself a blowdryer if you dont have one. That is the first step to having good hair.

Actually I take it back, finding a hairstylist who cuts in a way you prefer it to is the first step. Second would be learning how to blow dry your hair to get it into the shape you want. For me 90% of how I want my hair to look is determined before I even put anything in it.

The other 10% is just "detailing" the ends to get the anime/manga feel to it.

Personally, Ive rolled with the "Garnier Fructis STYLE Wax" (like 7 bucks at walmart), been doing my hair since grade 8, this one stuck with me early on; gives the most bang for the buck, whereas other products I feel just disapear mostly on your hands. The one is simply used to the ends of the hair though.

If youre too lazy to blow dry your hair to shape it, any putty from walmart (usually white and smells like shit, but cheapest in your hair shaping arsenal) will do. These are the ones you rub all over your palms and try your best to evenly coat your hair, whereas the wax you put on 2/3 fingers and twirl the ends.

Then hairspray, I like natural, so I get the ones with least shine and max hold. Hairspray so your hair you spent 5 minutes on dont fall apart with one gust of the wind.

Gatsbys are OKAY, though they are overpriced for what they do and people just buy them cause theyre collectible containers and are like pokemon cards, you just wanna catchem all. I have the grey, light green and blue one. Would recommend grey, green is closest to generic putty from walmart you mix with a lil water while blue surprised me a bit when I opened the thing it looked like gel, like white people gel.

tl;dr:

Step 1: $20+ haircut
Step 2: Acquire blowdryer, learn how to use it. Blow till pretty much desired shape/form obtained.
Step 3: For natural look, wax tips. If attention whore, rub putty on palms and coat hair with it first, then twirl tips.
Step 4: Hairspray that shit.
Step 5: Attain Final Form.
